Senator Organa. [An audible deep breath, despite the fact that he took one right before he activated his comm.]
I don't know if you know Master Kenobi was in a...coma? A cocooned state for about a week or so. Well, he's awake now, with more memories.
I haven't come out and asked him exactly how long it's been since Palpatine proclaimed himself Emperor, from his perspective. I'm not sure that he could give me an exact answer, if I did.
My guess is, less than a month.
I thought you should know why his reactions might be different.
[Solemnly-] The whole galaxy changed, and the Jedi that survived lost nearly everything. I know. My first master, other teachers - the loss was forever part of them. Talking about things as they had been...it could be difficult.
[Obi-wan will never be as he was. He imagines that's true for Bail, in some ways, too. More briskly-]
I'm glad to hear you found a residence. Plenty of natives with the right skills could help you out, if the place needs some work, for some sort of trade, I'm sure. But I do have some experience in construction, if you want me to take a look around.
..Oh. You - you saw the main Temple, while- [While everyone inside who'd called it home was being slaughtered.
After a heavy beat of silence, Ezra clears his throat.]
My life hasn't been exactly linear for a while now. So I did get to see it. Full of Jedi, I mean. [He's also seen flashes during and bodies after, through the eyes of survivors, in shared mediation, but he pushes those memories aside.]
But, like, 900 years before I was born. We were there for a few weeks. They gave me everything I needed to make a new lightsaber. And, well, a bunch of stuff to support a small enclave of Jedi, but the only other thing that came with me to here was a holocron to study from.
[Such a short time, but it's certainly impacted how he thinks about what it means to be a Jedi. He feels like he understands Obi-wan so much better for having seen some of how daily life went.]
[There is a noise of confirmation that Bail returns in reply. So easy to bring forth the image. To recall standing there by the armed Clones, unable to aid lest he join the ranks of the deceased.
A pause of consideration.]
You got to see it here?
[Consider Bail slightly confused about what he means.]
This is my second major stop on the multi-verse go 'round. At least, depending on how you want to count it.
The first time - similar situation in that people from a bunch of other times and places were there. No squids involved, just blink and somewhere else, although I'd just been shot, so at first, I sort of assumed it was some weird vision while dying.
We had some small space ships - courier types. But ultimately we were....prisoners with the run of a moderately dangerous planet, because they only flew at certain times. There were a couple of groups of powerful entities we had intermittent contact with, and it was pretty unclear who really had control of what. At any rate, someone sent the ships and us to Coruscant for a month.
We had three survivors of the Purge with us. Two other padawans, and Master Kenobi. He was...not exactly the same as he is here. Or, well, I think he'd just had a few more months to scrape himself together.
Candles and lanterns lit the archways of the buildings in Theed, a solemn glow lighting the way for a quiet procession. This was not a small gathering- it looked as though the entire city, if not more, were gathered. Crowds lined the stone bridge with mourners watching the procession as it passed. Four gualaar leading an open casket through the city.
[He'd seen... He had seen far more than he thought he would - and in a very short time. She had been an ally, but more than that, she had been a friend. Her loss will be felt heavily by those who knew her and understood the impact that she had had. Even as a fourteen year old untested Queen, she had made ripples through the senate.
He had not been there for the funeral. No, he had returned to Alderaan with a baby girl... He watches in silence. Not surprised at the attendance. He knows she had been loved. Yet confusion as well. ... who?]
[ Small miracles when the response comes in by voice. She can't handle facing people over video after this...
Mentally, she's cursing this place and its idea of a laugh. She's heard Senator Organa was here now, but even she couldn't have prepared herself to hear his voice in response to the memory.
It takes her a moment to reply, but she clears her throat first before she does to make sure she doesn't crack or falter. ]
[Catching them just so, otherwise Bail would have been just as in the dark as anyone else, so good their disguise. Yet he had not seen her in some time. Which doesn't mean much. No doubt she could blend in.]
Knowing her, she likely would have scolded me had I shown up.
[For Leia's sake. For Alderaan. For the forming rebellion. Be good little senators, she had said, already looking to a future that had just been starting to unfold.]
There is a difference between knowing a thing and seeing it. I will add my hopes to it.
No need to apologize. This place does have it's own way of going about things.
[He has learned that much. Has been busy himself. Learning about the different regions. Trying to find a place that doesn't require too much work.
He lingers. Pauses. Knows how close they had been. A queen and her shadow. A good rouse and one that had likely fooled more than Bail could ever guess.]
I am sorry for your loss too. Sorry I could not do more.
[ at the restaurant that basically serves a variety of mushrooms, obi-wan is in a booth. his robe is pulled over his head and he rubs his palms as if trying to banish the cold. ]

[If Ezra's guess is correct though, it would mean that a lot of things have changed. Amidala, perhaps? Luke and Leia?]
Thank you for the update. I will take that into consideration going forward.

Uh. Speaking of. Are you settling in ok?

I have found a residence within the Willful Machine that seems to be mostly habitable.

[Quite harshly. Would that he had more men or been able to do something more. He had done what he could after. It would never seem enough.]
I actually would appreciate the aid.

And then Padmé showed up. Very pregnant. The twins being born - that was the only time I've felt him so anxious and scared.
But they were ok. She was ok. Time is...complicated, clearly.

Padmé Naberrie Amidala lay lifeless- her hair splayed around her with petals of flowers placed in the curls. Her hand rested on her stomach and held the japor snippet necklace a young Anakin Skywalker had given her years ago.
No one spoke.
Padmé's family followed, as did Queen Apailana in a gown styled after one of the former Queen's looks. A nod to her respect for the late Queen and Senator of Naboo. Padmé's surviving handmaidens were among those walking behind the current Queen. Rabé, Saché, Yané, Dormé, and Sabé did not speak a word to each other... nor anyone else. Their devastation was too great. ]

Thank you...
And, Senator, I'm sorry I hadn't reached out to you yet. It would seem this place was eager to fix that in some way.
[ There was, of course, the question of when he was from. He knew Padmé was dead and he knew he wasn't at her funeral. But had he made the call to her yet? Or was he from farther than that? ]
